if this is your first install of mapsource requires a registry edit.

Ether open the "Registry edit.reg" file or create a key as follows:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\MapSource\Families\Americas BlueChart v8]
After you are done installing its recommended you remove the key before starting MapSource.

in the ****** software select map product:
custom mapset
the FID is 324
and select enable all fields ( but don't change anything
click ok
press generate ( the one on the right of exit botton )
copy the # ( it will look like that UAJXMFVG72L6RLTXLG3MT33AK )

in mapsource
press CTRL-U you should have a new windows with say city navigator north america 2009 LOCK
select the second tab ( unlock region )
click ADD
paste the # you got from the ******
in the lower box enter 2009_a
and click OK
if you go back to the first tab you should see UNLOCK now

if not that mean the process have not work to unlock card

to create a new map 2009 in mapsource
press m

you can either select part by part which state and province you want or select the entire map ( will fit on a 2GB card )
** be sure your card don't contain the gmapsupp.img anymore
and if you are ready to transfert the new 2009 map to your card click on transfert in the top menu and select send to device
